Fourth of July Menu Main Dishes

First up for today’s Fourth of July menu will be the meat recipes, also known as the main event at most cookouts. These melt in your mouth dishes are great for sharing family style. As an added bonus, you can also cook all of these in your kitchen if you don’t have a grill. Time to fire it up and get happy!

Texas Brisket and Ribs

Ingredients:

1, 10-15 pound brisket (depending on number of people serving)

3 full racks of ribs (will serve between 5 and 8 people)

Smokin’ Texas Gourmet Dry Rub

Smokin’ Texas Gourmet BBQ Sauce, for dipping

 

Directions:

-Remove excess fat from brisket. If doing ribs, remove the back-side skin from the bone.

-Liberally rub Smokin’ Texas Gourmet Dry Rub over meat’s surface.

-Enclose the meat loosely in aluminum foil and refrigerate for 24 hours to maximize flavor.

-Set oven to 225° Fahrenheit and slow cook the meat in foil for 5 to 7 hours.

-Sop or serve with Smokin’ Texas Gourmet BBQ Sauce.

Recipe Note: For smoked meat, put meat in a smoker or on the grill (indirect heat) with smoking tray and smoke at 150° Fahrenheit for 3 hours.

 

Beer Bratwursts with Caramelized Bell Pepper and Onion

Ingredients:

1 package of premium bratwursts

1 onion, sliced into strips

1 green bell pepper, sliced into strips

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 bottle of your favorite beer

Bratwurst buns

Smokin’ Texas Gourmet Garlic Salt and Pepper seasoning, to taste

Bratwurst garnishes, including : Smokin’ Texas Gourmet Jalapeno Honey Mustard, Fire Roasted Tomato and Sweet Onion Ketchup and Texas Twister condiments

Directions:

-In a large sauté pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced onions and peppers to pan and sprinkle with Smokin’ Texas Gourmet Garlic Salt and Pepper. Sauté the vegetables until they’re caramelized, about 6 or 7 minutes. Set aside and keep warm.

-Add 1/2 cup of the beer to the sauté pan and deglaze the pan over medium to high heat. Add the brats to the pan, add the remaining beer, cover and cook over medium heat for 5 minutes.

-Remove the brats from the pan and put them on a grill, turning often until cooked through. If using a pan, cook until heated through.

-Put the brats in buns, dress with caramelized onions and pepper top with your favorite garnishes.
